The Hong Sisters are back! They’re gearing up for a new romantic comedy on MBC, which marks their return after four years to this broadcaster since Greatest Love. As I look at their past work, it’s funny how their work generally follows the pattern of going from KBS to SBS to MBC, and then repeat. Anyways, with their successes it’s no wonder every broadcaster would want a slice of the Hong Sisters pie.
Cha Seung Wonrecently won two awards in Mnet’s 20’s Choice Awards. Hosted by Suzy and Song Joong Ki, the awards show gave ukelele trophies to stars chosen by the fans in many categories. For Cha, he won both Hot Drama Actor and Hot Male Body (with a 6-pack). No doubt this is because of his burst of fame from Greatest Love. His costar Gong Hyo Jin also won Hot Drama Actress and Hot Style Icon.
Other winners included KARA (Hot Hallyu Star), Suzy (Hot New Star), B2ST (Hot Performance Star), Honey Lee (Hot Female Body), Yoo Ah In (Hot 20’s Voice), and Goo Hara (Hot Campus Girl). The full list can be seen here.
Cha Seung Won is certainly getting his second wave of super popularity with his recent spate of dramas, from City Hall to Athena to Greatest Love. The actor and former model has been in the industry for 22 years, which is a shockingly long time, but has made his mark as an iconic character through Dokko Jin.
It’s easy to think that being a “celebrity” means you get everything you want – the fame, the money, the beauty, the name. Nowadays it is even easier to get your “15 minutes of fame” just by having a sex scandal or inheriting a fortune. (Maybe I should amend that to “15 seconds of fame” considering how fast Twitter and Facebook can be.)
“Kung Fu Panda 2” is AWESOME! I loved it for its sweet unexpectedness. There is TOTALLY going to be a Kung Fu Panda 3 based on the ending, and I am SO there. It’s the start of an excellent summer – I’ve seen “X-Men: First Class” (James McAvoy + Michael Fassbender = *swoon*), so two summer blockbusters – *check*! Next up – HARRY POTTER! WHEE!
