Lee Min Ho Chooses Another Film for Comeback

Looks like Lee Min Ho isn’t returning to the small screen anytime soon. The actor, who’s pretty much got free rein to forever do commercials and movies if he’d like, is choosing a big-budget pan-Asian film called ‘Bounty Hunters’. Directed by Shin Tae Ra (or Terra Shin), who previously did ‘My Girlfriend is an Agent’ with Kang Ji Hwan, ‘Bounty Hunters’ will take place in Korea, China, Hong Kong, Thailand, and other major Asian cities. With a blockbuster-sized budget, this film can do anything.

Lee Min Ho was apparently selected because of his martial arts skills and ability to do action films. So… not his acting then, eh? If he is to play a bounty hunter, it won’t be much of a stretch anyways, considering he can pull his experience from ‘Gangnam Blues 1970’ and City Hunter.

While he is considering to do a project in Korea, possibly another drama, Lee is still riding on the global success of Heirs, and ‘Gangnam Blues’ won him the Most Popular Film Actor in the 51st Baeksang Awards. So he’s doing something right picking these kinds of film roles. And by being a part of the new generation of Hallyu stars, he really doesn’t have to act as often anymore to bring in the big bucks.

Plenty of other big Asian stars will join in on this project, as it’s sure to have multinational investors. There are rumors that Fan Bing Bing, Angelababy, or Yang Mi will join him in the film, with the latter two being the most likely. Yang Mi rose to stardom with roles in The Return of the Condor Heroes, Chinese Paladin 3, and Palace. Model/singer/actress Angelababy is also really popular in Asia and even appeared in the Chinese film version of Running Man: ‘Running Man International‘. But rumors are just rumors, so there’s still a ways before we confirm on the female lead.

‘Bounty Hunters’ is slated to be released in 2016.
