News Bits: 8/21/11 Edition

News flash! Yoo Ji Tae and girlfriend Kim Hyo Jin are to get married!

They’ve set the date for December 2. They’ve been dating for 5 years now (whooo freakin’ long!), and met on the set of a photo shoot in 2003. They were friends until they announced their relationship back in May 2007.

It’s good news after news of Yoo Ji Tae’s feature-length directorial debut came out. Yoo is currently working on a screenplay about a female migrant laborer, which I think would be interesting as there are plenty of immigrant workers in Korea. While “migrant” does not necessarily mean “immigrant,” I think it would be interesting if the film was about someone who’s not natively from Korea. Anyways – he’s already directed four short films, but this will be his first feature-length film.

  • One more pre-produced drama is getting an air date! The Musical is set to broadcast on Friday 10pm on SBS. 16 episodes starting September 2. I think this drama isn’t really going to work out too well (ratings wise). Based on previous pre-produced dramas’ performances (Paradise Ranch, Birdie Buddy, Road No. 1) and the fact that the story reminds me of Heartstrings/You’ve Fallen For Me a bit too much, I think that despite its quality, it won’t get a lot of views. BUT! It is starring Gu Hye Sun (who’s a freakin’ juggernaut) and Daniel Choi (who’s fresh off of Baby Faced Beauty), so you never know. I’m more interested in What’s Up. Sorry – Im Joo Hwan is 10x more interesting for me.
  • Song Kang Ho and Shin Se Kyung appeared in a Harper’s Bazaar photo shoot to promote their film “Blue Salt,” where Song is a retired mob boss and Shin is an assassin who falls for him. Shin is so freakin’ provocative in that last picture.. whooo~ I like her long blue gown.

  • Jung Woo Sung‘s new drama Ppadam ppadam is set to start shooting after Chuseok. According to the article, the shoot will be at Tongyeong, Gyeongnam, which is in the south of the peninsula.
  • The very news that “2 Days 1 Night” will end in 6 months is also enough to put me into mourning. ‘Nuff said. *runs to go watch next episode on TV*
