News Bits: 7/9/11 Edition

I am procrastinating studying by a leetle bit with this post.

Jang Geun Suk and Lee Min Jung filmed a short film/CF for Cartier titled ‘Bague’, which means ‘ring’ in French. And of course – it’s about a Cartier ring. Anyways – the short film runs at 6 minutes long. One thing I’m amazed about is how there would be CF’s and mini movies for products and brands, and they would be longer than the usual 30 seconds or 1 minute. I rarely see long commercials like that for American products.

The film is very poetic in style. While Jang is cute, I can’t help but notice his acting, whereas Lee always has this blissful vacant look on her face. It doesn’t mean she can’t act, it’s just she’s so freaky – but that’s how her character is supposed to be. Anyways – they share an underwater kiss, and to me, it’s not all that. BUT! It’s pretty.

  • Jang has also been keeping busy by finally shooting for “You’re My Pet”. Based on the stills with Kim Ha Neul, it appears to be the scene when her character first discovers Jang huddled in a box after he’s run away from home. She takes him in because she’s worried about him, but then takes him on as a pet. Oh man – these stills just bring back awesome memories of Jun Matsumoto and Koyuki. Ack! I want to rewatch the series now! Also – what’s with Kim Ha Neul and short shorts? I thought her character was supposed to be a total, conservative professional. Plus, on the Actress special for 2 Days 1 Night, she’s the only one dressed in short shorts. I get it – you got great legs. Stop making me jealous.

  • Kim Ah Joong was recently injured while filming the Chinese-American film “Amazing.” She had fallen down the stairs and was knocked unconscious. The scene required her to chase the male lead down the stairs, but she twisted her ankle and fell, knocking her head on the banister. She was rushed to the hospital, but sustained no serious injuries. Her costar, Ugly Betty’s Eric Mabius was set to leave Shanghai in 2 days, and so despite suggestions for rest, Kim rushed back on set so that she wouldn’t affect his schedule. Aw. She’s awesome.
  • I won’t even try to wonder how he has time for this, but Uhm Tae Woong tweeted a picture of himself on the Swiss Alps. Gosh it looks amazing. I’m also guessing that even though he’s not athletic (proven by his sport-failures in 2 Days 1 Night) he can hike.

  • Back in January-February of this year, Bae Geu Rin was keeping busy shooting Smile Mom, Once Upon a Time in Saengchori, and a short promotional video for the Olympic committee during Pyeongchang’s bid for the 2018 Winter Olympics. (By the way – congratulations to South Korea for nabbing the honor!) Since she shot it in perilous weather, she did encounter a minor accident. Fortunately she wasn’t hurt, but news of it didn’t come out until recently. In fact, I don’t think anyone realized it was her until now. Oh 49 Days– how you must have really launched her career.

The promotional video below is Pyeongchang 2018 – New Horizons. New Horizons is the theme for their Olympics, and it features various Asians and Africans talking about their own “new horizons” in English. What surprised me the most was the little Korean girl speaking with a British accent. Yep. She makes speaking the language I’m struggling to learn with the accent I’m in love with sound so easy.

  1. When I lived in Korea there was this little girl I knew who had lived in England most of her life since her dad worked over there, and omo! She was SO. CUTE. She was like seven and had the most adorable little voice and spoke English with the cutest little accent. Ah, memories. ^_^

I’m so glad that Pyeongchang is going to host the Winter Olympics! Now I have something to shoot for…seven years to save up to take the trip over there, woot!
