Seo Hyo Rim (who was last seen in Sungkyunkwan Scandal as Jun Tae Soo‘s silly younger sister who was in love with Micky Yoochun) will take a dramatic turn as she joins the cast of Scent of a Woman. The drama, which also stars Kim Sun Ah, Lee Dong Wook, and Uhm Ki Joon, will air on July 16. Seo’s character is a cold-hearted chaebol heiress (OOH – hey! It’s not a cold-hearted chaebol MAN, but a WOMAN!) who has had her heart broken after willing to give up her entire wealth to be with this man.
- More images of Park Shin Hye on the set of Heartstrings has been released. I really like the last picture, where her head pops up out of the bushes over the wall. There’s also a new, longer teaser for the drama. I’m kind of surprised by it because it has Park looking shyly, but lovingly, at Jung Yong Hwa, and it’s almost like the two of them like each other already when they’re supposed to not really be interested in each other at first (or, that’s how I took the drama’s premise to be). The drama has a Playful Kiss feel to it, which I’m wondering if it will be to its detriment or not.
- New posters for Spy Myung Wol! Oh man – I think I’m looking forward to this series even more now – especially seeing Eric Mun act like a scaredy-cat. I hope he’s the Hallyu actor who is super bad-ass and then at the sight of a real gun, he jumps into Han Ye Seul‘s arms. I wish they gave more attention to Lee Jin Wook‘s outfit though, as it’s kinda boring. There are also some fan-snapshots of the two main stars in an airport in Singapore. Because Youthful Beauty has been extended by two episodes, Spy Myung Wol will now air on July 11.
- There’s a new singer in town who wants to be the Korean Lady Gaga. Known as AB, she released her debut single “Slip.” The music video was banned on three broadcast networks because of its provocative nature. The song is supposedly highly addicting, and her agency asked everyone to pay attention to her vocals. Um, sure – you want us to pay attention to her vocals when it sounds auto-tuned and all we see is her shaking her ass at some guy? Honestly, I think the video and single isn’t that great. It’s not that addicting like Lady Gaga’s tunes, and even though her videos are provocative, at least she can dance like she got proper choreography, and not was given some club song to dance and grind to. It’s unimpressive in my opinion, and if she really wants to be the next Gaga Korean Version, she’s gotta do way better.
- Rumors are seriously heating up, and where there’s smoke, there’s fire. It’s likely that Hong Kong celebrity couple Nicholas Tse and Cecilia Cheung will divorce in the near future. A lawyer for Tse had flown to Malaysia and was presumed to be consulting the actor in regards to divorce proceedings. Cecilia Cheung had intensified the rumors when she reportedly sent a text message to Tse demanding a divorce. While there have always been rumors that they would divorce, they always managed to prove otherwise. Reports do make Cheung seem quite the villain though, making her seem like she’s a demanding wife who wants property, money, power, everything in the relationship. She has supposedly regretted her demand for divorce, but it seems a bit too late now. This all comes after news that Cheung has somewhat reconciled with Edison Chen, with whom she had a sex scandal with years ago, and Nicholas Tse was seen becoming close to Gillian Chung, his costar in the film “The Spirit of the Sword.” Funnily enough, Gillian was also affected by a sex scandal with Edison Chen. In my view, being friends with Gillian Chung can be a loaded thing…
