News Bits: 5/5/11 Edition

The rehearsal reading for upcoming musical school drama You’ve Fallen for Me has begun! Park Shin Hye, Jung Yong Hwa, Song Chang Ui, So Yi Hyun, Kang Min Hyuk, and Woori participated. Hopefully everyone’s acting chops is much improved. (I’m leaving Song and So out of that last statement though, because they got acting chops.)

  • Jo In Sung left the army yesterday, and a silver ring proudly displayed on his middle finger shocked many fans. Jo has a girlfriend!?!?!?!?! Nawww – gals, you freak out too much. He really was just wearing a gift from his unit as a form of congratulations. Yep – he was much beloved.
  • Oof – F.T. Island had a minor fire scare when their computer monitor overheated in their dorm room. Smoke came out and set off the sprinklers. Their agency thought of it as good luck, that their new album would be a success (because they were working so hard on the album jacket cover and such) but I say pshh. Fire is a fire. If that computer actually exploded, would you say that their new album will be an explosive success?
  • Oh Yeon Su (Bad Guy) was actually going to be in 2 Days 1 Night! But – she rejected it! I think she had a prior engagement. On the other hand – it looks like Yeom Jung Ah will be Lee Seung Gi’s partner! It sure would be an interesting prospect. Le sigh – there goes my predictions… As for Uhm Tae Woong – he revealed that he’s a tad stressed about participating in the show, hoping that he’d do a good job. What a cutie. Well – he could do a “good job” if he started scheming more and learned how to play dirty. But then again, that’s only a “good job” in the rest of the team’s opinion. I like him better as the innocent, pure Tae Woong-ahhhh~~
  • Best Love had decent ratings for its first episode – 8.4% – but an article was written up about how much the drama satirized real life. From references to Fin.K.L. to malicious comments on forums to Hollywood prospects, the first episode did so much in leaving no stone unturned. (I’m sure we’ll see more satire before the drama gets heavy on the plot.) I don’t know if this was well received or not, but either way, I think it was HIGHLARIOUS.
  • Jay Chou has been nominated for the MTV Movie Awards for Best Breakout Star thanks to his role in “The Green Hornet.” He’s up against Andrew Garfield (The Social Network), Chloe Grace Moretz (Kick-Ass), Hailee Steinfeld (True Grit), Olivia Wilde (Tron: Legacy – she can’t be a breakout star!!), and Xavier Samuel (The Twilight Saga). Jay Chou – believe it or not – is also the oldest nominee. I’d love to see Jay Chou win – as long as he has a better acceptance speech than Rain.
