News Bits: 2/10/11 Edition

Jung Joon Ho is getting married! to anchorwoman Lee Ha Jung! on March 25th! Here’s to hoping his wife is not like Hwang Tae Hee in Queen of Reversals. They haven’t been dating for long, but I guess quantity does not equal quality. She had interviewed him last November and the two of them hit it off. He will officially announce his marriage plans on the 13th, after he returns from a fanmeeting in Japan, but I hope he doesn’t also announce that she’s pregnant, or else it will be a major *facepalm.

  • Han Hyo Joo has been cast as the female lead opposite So Ji Sub‘s film “Only You.” She will play the woman who loses her eyesight, while So is a boxer who gives everything he has to her. Interesting. I’m sure Han can play the melodramatic, girl-in-despair very well.
  • So Ji Sub is also going to become a hip-hop singer. You read that right – he will make his debut this month and released a sneak peek to his upcoming song “Pick-Up Line.” The teaser video, which features comedians Jung Joon Ha and Kim Byung Man, will be released next week and the full version of the song will be released on February 17.
  • While Hyun Bin refuses to divulge any further details about his relationship with Song Hye Gyo, Yoo In Na opened up about herself and her newfound fame thanks to Secret Garden. She said that if she had a boyfriend in the army, she’d visit him twice a month. She’d also voluntarily make an NG if she got to share a foam kiss with Hyun Bin rather than Secretary Kim, played by Kim Sung Oh. (In fact, Kim Sung Oh was the one who made the 20 NGs.) More of her interview can be read here.
  • There was an interesting article on Korea Times about the K-drama phenomenon. It’s really ramping up, since K-dramas were reviewed in Entertainment Weekly. The article talks about how addictive Korean dramas are, despite its “tame subject matter” compared to some American TV shows, and mentions the IRIS, Coffee Prince, and Secret Garden craze. Hulu, DramaFever, and DramaCrazy all get shoutouts in the article.
