Fated To Love You Spin-Off In The Works

Taiwanese dramas have been going down in popularity. Not that I know for sure, but I can certainly say that my interest in them has decreased ever since I watched a few episodes of some series and couldn’t bother to continue. So…they’ve gone down in popularity for me.

However, an article noted that Taiwanese dramas in general get ratings in the low-single digits, like 2’s and 4’s. The last drama to make Taiwanese drama history was Fated to Love You, getting ratings in the mid-teens. So to remake that little television magic, a spin-off/sequel was discussed to bring back together the cast and crew of Fated. Unfortunately, due to schedule conflicts, Ethan Ruan and Chen Qiao En won’t be coming back.

Instead, they’ll be replaced with Rainie Yang and Joseph Chang.

My first reaction was *o_O ACK!* I was kinda skeptical about Rainie taking on the lead role for this spin-off, now titled Drunken to Love You, but then I saw her new photo. She apparently cut off her long hair back in December, and man, I love the short hair on her. (More on short hair later…) Her new look kinda convinces me that she’s grown up a bit, and that she might be able to take on the role of a tough girl.

As for Joseph Chang – WHO!? Honestly – never heard of him; shallowly – not that much of a looker compared to Ethan Ruan. Boo.

Of course, what made Fated to Love You memorable was the bed scene, which will reprise here. I hope the drama will be as funny as the title. Though it’s meant to have a totally different plot, I’m sure a drunken one night stand is sure to lead to unexpected pregnancy.

  1. Are you watching this drama? Turned out better than I had predicted and I was watching as a FTLY and Rainie fan. It’s good, great acting (both leads).

    • ya it turned out better than expected for me. i really enjoyed the chemistry between the leads as the drama went on. There were quite a lot of LOL moments 🙂 However there are quite some loop holes in the drama, and i think i’m gonna stop watching it now – it’s getting too draggy with quite a lot of unnecessary plots. Personally i thought that the episode where they kissed under the sakura tree was a good place to end the story 🙂

      • Heh, I checked my email 1min after you commented. But anyway, I stopped at ep 11 because I the video sites (mainly viki) weren’t working for me so I moved on to my other May Mayhem and July Jubulee dramas. I thought it was suppose to end after 13eps and then I saw ep 15 come out and I thought this was the last week but I guess not. It was doing so well, I need to catch up. Ill probably still watch all of it even if it drags.
