News Bits: 9/13/10 Edition

Aw man. Nothing against the girl, but Moon Geun Young has been cast opposite of Jang Geun Suk in the upcoming drama Mary Stayed Out All Night. She will play the girl caught in the middle between Jang’s musician character and a chaebol. I had heard rumors that she would be cast, but I was seriously hoping she wouldn’t be the one. Not that I was hoping for Park Shin Hye, but I hadn’t expected Moon.

Then again, it might be a good thing that she’s the “unexpected” pick (for me) because this is her opportunity to show her range. She’s mostly done melodramas for Korean dramas, so this is time for her to exercise whatever rom-com chops she’s got.

Runaway Plan B released their official poster. Hot. But is it me, or does it look a bit like IRIS’ poster? And Yoon Jin Seo in the far left looks like Lee Jia in ATHENA. OK – maybe it looks like the IRIS cast poster, with the poses of ATHENA.

Another sister-brother pair in the acting industry is coming out – Yoon Eun Hye’s younger brother Yoon Ban Suk is getting ready to start “regular activities” as a new star. He’s already had a bit role in Yoon’s last drama Take Care of the Young Lady. I can list Kim Tae Hee – Lee Wan, Uhm Jung Hwa – Uhm Tae Woong, and Ha Ji Won – Jun Tae Soo as other acting pairs. Who else is there?

After School’s Jooyeon is set to make her acting debut in a daily drama called Laugh, Donghaeya. Premiering on October 4th, this drama also stars Alex from Clazziquai and Park Jung Ah from Jewelry. Both appeared in Pasta and Prosecutor Princess respectively. Jooyeon will play Park Jung Ah’s younger, immature sister.

Lee Min Ho has been cast in a manga adaptation called City Hunter. The drama is about a private detective who gets rid of crime in Tokyo during the 1980s. The setting will of course be changed to Seoul in present day, and is set to air next year. Apparently, the creator of the comic strip had prevented any drama adaptations from being made because he had a lot of demands, but he let this version go through after approving Lee Min Ho for the title character.
